Dried Mealworms

Dried Mealworms are a great option for giving your feathered companions a protein boost.

Protein is an important part of a birds diet and by providing mealworms, especially during the winter period when bugs and insects are very hard to find, you are helping them significantly. These little worms are also very much appreciated during the spring and summer months when birds are breeding, both for the adult finding food for itself during this hectic time and the chicks whenever live natural food is scarce (although it is advised that during this period you soak the mealworms in warm water to add fluid to the worms to keep the chick hydrated).

Dried Mealworms are best fed scattered on a bird table, on the ground or in a small dish to allow songbirds to also feed on them as they are a huge favourite for robins and blackbirds etc. They can also be mixed with seeds in a seed feeder to add that extra temptation for your birds using feeders.
